Göteborg // Fly into Stockholm and head West to Sweden’s second largest city, Göteborg, for the three-day Way Out West Festival . Nosh on veggie burgers and beer while listening to tunes from artists such as James Blake, Little Jinder, Junip and Maya Jane Coles in the picturesque park Slottsskogen. Lake Tahoe // Set near Lake Tahoe and the majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Lake Tahoe SummerFest brings together orchestral and chamber musicians from around the world. This year, watch for performances by violinist Jennifer Koh, pianist Benjamin Hochman, harpist Meredith Clark and more. Following the concerts, stay for the “Talkback” conversations and talk with the musicians. Fridays-Sundays, August 2-18. Sierra Nevada College.
Nashville // Calling all Shakespeare buffs! Pack a picnic and spend an evening under the stars in Centennial Park for Shakespeare in the Park: A Midsummer Night’s Dream . August 15-September 15.
Budapest // Each August, more than 400,000 people from 70 countries descend upon Budapest for Sziget Festival , a seven-day nonstop music party. Check out more than 200 programs a day at venues across the city from pop, rock, folk, metal, jazz and blues musicians. This year, don’t miss Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Franz Ferdinand.
