Throwback Thursday // Aviation History Month

Did you know Delta traces its passenger service way back to 1928? C.E. Woolman and investors purchased Huff Daland Dusters, the first aerial crop-dusting company, renamed it Delta Air Service, and thus an aviation titan was born.
Woolman left his position with the Louisiana extension service in 1925, joined Huff Daland Dusters and in the off-season traveled with the company to Peru, where they helped to establish crop-dusting and passenger services. With this experience, Woolman returned to the United States, and in 1928 raised the capital to buy Huff Daland, purchasing it on November 12, 1928, and renaming the company Delta Air Service, with its headquarters in Monroe, LA.
