New On board // SweetWater 420
By: Nick Nock, SweetWater Brewing Company Head Brewer
We’re brewing up some “sweet” news! Starting 4/1 (and we aint fooling!) flights between ATL to LGA will feature SweetWater Brewery’s 420 Extra Pale Ale. We caught up with SweetWater’s Head Brewer Nick Nock, who shared with us his thoughts on 420 in-flight!
"As SweetWater’s first employee, it’s been an amazing experience to watch us evolve over the last 17 years into Georgia’s largest craft brewery located right in the heart of Atlanta.
After recently cutting the ribbon on a massive brewhouse expansion, we finally have the ability to take our capacity and production to the next level and start canning our brews. Better yet, we’re partnering with another Atlanta staple, Delta Air Lines, to launch our sweet new cans of 420 Extra Pale Ale.
Delta has a reputation for always putting their customers first, a mindset we share when it comes to quality products. Now with SweetWater cans on board, Delta is taking this commitment to the skies, offering passengers fresh, local, quality craft beers on flights.
As a long-time professional brewer, I can tell you first-hand how much effort and passion goes into making sure our customers always enjoy the freshest beer possible. For our partnership with Delta, we took our canning process to the next level with a method called “can-conditioning” to keep our brews tasty from the time they leave the brewery right up to when you enjoy them 30,000 feet in the air.
420 Extra Pale Ale has been SweetWater’s flagship beer since we started brewing it back in ’97. We are proud to see it take flight in Delta’s onboard menu so that the millions of travelers that fly our hometown airline can get a taste of Atlanta’s local flavor.
On behalf of the entire SweetWater team, we couldn’t be more excited for folks to try our brews, and we’re definitely looking forward to enjoying a few of these tasty beverages on our next flight!”
